Hello Beautiful People!
Summer is here, which means wedding season is officially upon us! Many of you have likely received some invitations to upcoming nuptials, awesome graduation parties and birthday extravaganzas......and I bet you’re banging your head against the wall trying to figure out the dress code, right?

Usually, the dress code is noted on the invitation or wedding website. Here are the three most common terms and what they mean:
  • Black Tie – A formal affair! This means men should wear tuxedos and women should wear a formal gown of any length.
  • Black Tie Optional – Things are a bit more lax for you, but the wedding party will be in formal attire noted above. You’re free to wear a tuxedo or gown, but it’s optional. So for men, a tuxedo or dark suit is great while woman can wear dresses or formal evening pants.
  • Cocktail Attire – I know this one confuses most people! Suits or sports jackets are appropriate for men. Women can wear dresses, dressy pants or chic jumpsuits. No need for tuxes or formal gowns here.
A couple other things to keep in mind:
  • Men (and women!) – jeans are never acceptable at a wedding unless specifically indicated.
  • Ladies – stay away from white! Seriously! It’s crazy how much I still see this happen. White or cream accents are fine, but avoid anything fully white or even close to white.
  • Beach and casual backyard weddings tend to be a different situation. Hopefully, the wedding dress code has been communicated but typically guest attire is a little more relaxed, but still polished. Think linen pants or khakis (no shorts unless specifically indicated) and a button-down shirt for men and light, flowy dresses for women.
If you’re still stuck, feel free to check in with a member of the wedding party about the dress code. They’ll know the scoop and you won’t have to bug the bride or groom days before the event. Either way! I am sure you will look amazing! Happy Shopping!
